Steve King

Steve King, also known as the "Voice of Ironman," is one of the most recognized personnages in the world of triathlon and running. His enthusiasic, charismatic personality has made him a famous triathlon and running presenter nationwide.

Steve has a B.Sc. degree in Health and Human Services from Columbia Pacific University and is a Registered Clinical Counselor. He is an avid runner and triathlete who has held six Canadian national age group records, has raced at Ironman and Ultraman Triathlons and has been a member of Canada`s national 100km team. In 1997 he was the first BC runner to finish in the BC Marathon Championships and had outright wins in the Kamloops 50km and the Haney to Harrison 100km events. In 2001 he became only the second Canadian ever to finish the 135 miles Death Valley race and placed 4th overall. He was the publisher of `Tri-Fit Quarterly`, a national triathlon magazine and is the founder of Tri-Fit International Sports Corp. He is a CBC, CTV, TSN and ESPN colour commentator for the sport of triathlon and is also the race announcer for a number of events including Ironman Canada, BC Summer and Winter Games and numerous marathon races around the country.

Steve has an avid interest in healthy balance and holism which includes the use of Applied Kinesiology and visualization. He is an expert in accelerated healing techniques such as Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Matrix Energetics, Whole Brain Integration and the holistic health hybrid WHEE. He has also published several books including Rapid Recovery: Accelerated Information Processing and Healing (2004) and Running in the Zone: a Handbook for Seasoned Athletes (2005).

He is an experienced presenter and has given keynote addresses and seminars to a variety of audiences from marathoners and triathletes to health workers and crisis line volunteers.

In this talk, Steve uses his experience as an athlete and a clinical counselor to explore how our mind can sometimes become our adversary.
