Hawaiian Rules from the Hona Maui

The Hona Maui is one of those beautiful hotels beyond the price range of ordinary mortals. (Shall we send the kids to college, or have a week at the Hona Maui?). It turns out Sting can afford it along with a number of other celebrities in search of secluded luxury.

Next t o the marble decked pool is their wellness centre, and I stopped to see what services they offered and what exercise equipment they had. On the wall were some guides for life and wellness, one of which I’ll share with you below. I’m unaware of the author of “8 Rules for Being Human” as no name appeared on the handout.

THE 8 RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

1. YOU WILL RECEIVE A BODY.
You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around. You can keep it well fed and exercised, or abuse it. The choice is yours.

2. YOU WILL LEARN LESSONS.
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You make like the lessons or think them irrelevant and hence choose to ignore them, no matter, keep reading.

3. A LESSON IS REPEATED UNTIL LEARNED.
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.

4. THERE ARE NO MISTAKES, ONLY LESSONS.
Growth is a process of trial and error; experimentation. The 'failed' experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately 'works'.

5. LEARNING LESSONS DOES NOT END.
There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, then there are lessons to be learned.

6. "THERE" IS NO BETTER THAN "HERE".
When your "there" has become a "here" you will simply obtain another "there" that will, again, look better than "here".

7. YOUR ANSWERS LIE ONLY INSIDE YOU.
The answers to life's questions lie only inside you. All you need do is LOOK, LISTEN, TRUST.

8. YOU WILL FORGET ALL THIS.
